 Expand South-South cooperation

As part of the tenth anniversary of Argentine Research CenterOn Wednesday, October 15, an important working meeting was held between representatives of Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and CLACSO with the aim of deepening cooperation ties and advancing new joint projects.

The following participated on behalf of ILAS-CASS Diego Guo Cunhai, Director of the Department of Social and Cultural Studies at the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Jimena Lin HuaSecretary General of the Argentine Research Center, an affiliate of ILAS-CASS. Representing CLACSO were Pablo Vommaro, Chief Executive Officer; Fernanda PampínDirector of Publications; and Gustavo Lema, Director of Communication and Information.

During the meeting at CLACSO headquarters in Buenos Aires, the importance of strengthening academic exchanges and joint knowledge production between both institutions was highlighted, in a global context that demands critical perspectives and cooperation from the Global South.

As part of the meeting, the ILAS-CASS representatives presented CLACSO with the printed version of the book “Dialogues on development between China and Latin America: A joint path towards modernization”, a publication produced collaboratively between the China and Latin America and Caribbean Culture and Publishing Center (CICG Americas) and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).

This meeting reaffirms the shared commitment between CLACSO and ILAS-CASS to strengthen academic ties between China and Latin America and promote intellectual cooperation based on reciprocity and the building of a fairer and more sustainable common future.
