Alert over the geopolitical risks of the current world order

The Steering Committee of CLACSO and the Cuban Member Centers, considering the serious international situation from an economic, social and environmental perspective, the enormous geopolitical risks of the current world order and the real possibility of a conflagration with incalculable consequences, agree:

• Report The intensified negative effects of this environment in the countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region, which have seen employment levels and the purchasing power of their wages progressively deteriorate as the prices of basic necessities rise drastically.
• Manifest their concern about the worsening inequality, social exclusion, multidimensional poverty and its consequent crises and expressions of extreme violence that are spreading in our region.
• Express their concern about the diplomatic situation between Latin American countries that erodes regional unity.
• Consider the particular case of Cuba which also suffers harassment from the US government for more than 60 years through a cruel economic war with enormous social and human costs with the declared objective of causing suffering and discontent among its people.
• Demonstrate They are openly opposed to the persistence of unilateral coercive measures in international relations, and especially to extraterritorial clauses that violate international law. In this regard, they express the need for Cuba to be removed from the so-called list of state sponsors of terrorism and agree that its inclusion is not only a historical fallacy, but also an instrument of genocidal policy intended to suffocate the country and provoke discontent and suffering among its citizens. The policy of economic warfare against Cuba severely compromises the country's ability to access the goods and material and financial resources it needs for its growth and development, and seeks to force it to abandon the path of socialist construction chosen by its people.
• Call to strengthen international actions of solidarity with Cuba for the cessation of the US blockade and all measures aimed at promoting it.
• Support to Cuban academic centers in their work in favor of an independent, socialist and solidarity-based Cuba.
