El CLACSO Working Group on Migration and South-South Borders expresses its deepest solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the devastating 7,1 magnitude earthquake that shook Caracas and other cities in the country on June 24, leaving victims, displaced families and entire communities in a state of emergency.

Our concern extends to the thousands of Venezuelans who, from afar, endure agonizing hours trying to contact their loved ones in Venezuela. While migration inherently involves a difficult separation, the uncertainty of a catastrophe amplifies that pain immeasurably.

At the MyFSS Working Group, we know that behind every migration story lie bonds, affections, and roots that distance cannot erase. We stand with all Venezuelan migrant families in this time of sorrow. We champion regional solidarity as an essential value. The right to migrate and the right to remain are inseparable from the right to live with dignity and to have access to support networks during the most difficult times.
