 Now Santiago de Chile

Upon my return to South America, after my trip to the United States, I will be in Santiago, Chile from June 4th to 6th with an important agenda of meetings with CLACSO Working Groups and Member Centers, as well as talks and conferences.

-On Monday the 3rd and Wednesday the 5th there will be meetings of the Working Group “Collective Memories and Practices of Resistance”, headed by the Chilean researcher and member of the CLACSO steering committee, Isabel Piper Shafir from the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chile, the study house where the meetings will be held.

On Tuesday the 4th, I will be moderating a discussion titled “Political Violence and Resistance,” featuring two leading Argentine researchers: anthropologist Rita Segato and political scientist Pilar Calveiro. The event will take place in the Julieta Kirkwood Auditorium at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Chile, from 18:00 PM to 21:00 PM.

Rita Segato, with whom I shared activities at the recent LASA congress in Boston, is Professor Emerita at the University of Brasilia, a professor at the University of San Martín, and a professor at the Sofía Museum in Madrid. Pilar Calveiro is a Professor of Political Science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.


-Wednesday 5: Conference “Patriarchy and Violence Today” by Rita Segato, from 18:00 p.m. to 21:00 p.m. in the Julieta Kirkwood Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Chile.

-Finally, on Thursday the 6th we will close with a meeting of Chilean Member Centers of CLACSO, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Chile, from 12:00 to 14:00 hs.
