Water for the people

The Centers of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the National University of Córdoba that make up the Latin American Council of Social Sciences made an urgent call to the Congress of the Nation of Argentina to reject the modifications to the Glaciers Law (26.639) and guarantee the protection of glacial and periglacial environments as common goods.
The declaration expresses a firm rejection of the extractive model and calls on legislators to defend water as a human right and a collective good.
Teachers, researchers, non-teaching staff, graduates and students from different academic units and institutes of CONICET warn about the environmental and constitutional gravity that these reforms imply, in a context of global climate emergency.
Glaciers are strategic reserves of fresh water and their preservation is key for present and future generations.
