Emancipatory agroecology(ies) for a world where many autonomies flourish

We propose an essay in the sense of an experiment, an exploration, a trial by fire. A reflection out loud; an invitation to dialogue so that, as the Zapatistas teach us, we may listen and learn on the collective path of transformation. We draw inspiration here from the principles and lessons that the Zapatistas, in their struggle for life, contribute to the construction of a global movement for agroecological transformation. After the Zapatista uprising on January 1, 1994, many tried to discredit it by labeling it an uprising against progress, modernity, and the future. They were accused of naiveté, ignorance, utopianism, and even of being an archaic and sectarian “Pol Pot” movement. Today, more than 25 years after that “Enough is Enough!”, after that act of resistance and rebellion, after that declaration of principles, values, and ways of life, we could say: “Yes… it was indeed an uprising against progress, modernity, and the future.”
