Goodbye to Roberto Hernández Montoya

He died on Monday, August 14th Roberto Hernandez Montoya, a great Venezuelan academic, President of the Center for Latin American Studies CELARG, a CLACSO member center in the South American country.
Hernández Montoya was secretary of the National Council of Culture (Conac), director of the Ateneo de Caracas Publishing House, a member of the editorial board of Venezuela Analítica (analitica.com), director of La BitBlioteca (analitica.com/bitblioteca/), and a member of the editorial board of Imagen. He has also been a columnist for the newspapers El Nacional and Últimas Noticias, among other publications. He founded and presided over the Venezuelan Association of Publishers.
A critical intellectual, committed to his time and his country in its process of social transformation and humanization, his accurate and always sharp words were present in the face of Venezuelan political, social and cultural circumstances during recent years.
He was a man esteemed by those who worked alongside him, followed by large majorities, and characterized by a broad and comprehensive vision that leaves us his legacy. CLACSO extends its deepest condolences to his family and colleagues.
