Goodbye to Mario Unda (1957-2026)

From CLACSO we express our deepest condolences on the passing of the distinguished Ecuadorian sociologist and researcher Mario Unda, a dear collaborator of our network.

Mario was a keen analyst of social movements, the world of work, and urban conflict in his country. His theoretical lucidity, always intertwined with militant commitment and popular causes, left an indelible mark on critical thought in Latin America and the Caribbean.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues at the Central University of Ecuador, and the social organizations he consistently and resolutely supported throughout his life.

His legacy lives on in the classrooms and in the struggles of our region.
