Goodbye to Gabriel Aguilera Peralta

The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) regrets the passing of Dr. Gabriel Aguilera Peralta, a renowned Guatemalan academic and pioneer in security and defense studies in the Central American region, among other fields.
In addition to serving as a professor in the International Relations Area of the School of Political Science and in other Faculties of the University of San Carlos, Gabriel Aguilera was widely recognized for his meticulous research and scientific contributions made at the Academic Headquarters of Flacso Guatemala.
Internationally, he was a distinguished teacher at several higher education institutions in Latin America and excelled in the diplomatic field, representing Guatemala as ambassador, head of missions, and delegate at world summits.
At ACAS, he is recognized for being part of the advisory team that guided the resurgence of the congresses of this association of sociologists at the beginning of this century.
From CLACSO, we extend our condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends.
