Goodbye to Francisco Rhon Dávila

With sadness, CLACSO bids farewell to the great Ecuadorian professor Francisco Rhon DávilaRhon, who died on October 26, 2022, was the founder and director of the Andean Center for Popular Action (CAAP), a CLACSO Member Center, and had a long career at the Simón Bolívar Andean University. He was awarded the “Latin American Prize for Social Sciences” at the 9th #CLACSO2022 Conference in Mexico last June.

Francisco Rhon Dávila undoubtedly contributed to the strengthening of the Social Sciences in the Andean and Latin American region, through his academic career, his commitment to social causes and the columns of the Ecuador Debate magazine that he promoted.

Rhon Dávila was the author of a chapter in the book “Social Movements and Conflict in Latin America”, available at the Latin American and Caribbean Social Sciences Bookstore.
