CLACSO agreement with CELAC
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) signed a declaration to develop inter-institutional cooperation initiatives aimed at promoting and executing research, training and dissemination projects for the benefit of regional integration and understanding among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
CELAC is an intergovernmental mechanism for dialogue and political consensus, which includes the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, fulfilling a fundamental role in the unity and careful balance of the political, economic, social and cultural diversity of our region.
In turn, CLACSO is an institution made up of 700 academic centers in more than 50 countries that contributes to the development of the social sciences and humanities in Latin America and the Caribbean, strengthening links between academic networks, government institutions and civil society organizations.
CELAC and CLACSO have declared their mutual interest in cooperating by promoting research, training strategies and publications in various formats aimed at strengthening democracies and the fight against inequality.
The first product of this alliance will consist of the development of a report that addresses the dimensions and social effects of the coronavirus in the region, led by a team coordinated by CLACSO.
