A cartography of contemporary Latin American feminisms encompasses a vast array of diverse currents: urban middle-class feminisms, Indigenous and non-Indigenous community feminisms, ecofeminisms, decolonial feminisms, to name a few. One of the main contributions of this publication lies in this particular intersection of those who identify as young feminist activists. Feminist studies have traditionally focused on the long- and medium-term trajectories of feminist “waves,” or on class analysis or theoretical positions. The dynamics of feminist movements in relation to the state have also been examined. The emergence on the Latin American scene of young women militant against harassment, femicide, and in favor of abortion has presented the challenge of understanding their trajectories and subjectivities. This book, by highlighting the particularities of this youth/feminist intersectionality, illuminates elements that have been made invisible in feminisms and allows for a better characterization of contemporary social struggles.
