"University Extension in Times of Neofascism and Digital Mediation: Integrality, Critical Thinking, and Trans-Feminisms"

In a Latin American and international context marked by the rise of new right-wing movements, the commodification of higher education, anti-egalitarian discourses, and increasing digital mediation that is reshaping the public sphere, this gathering proposes to build an emancipatory and collective counteroffensive. The event brings together the university community, social movements, and grassroots organizations to discuss university outreach as a substantive and purposeful function, geared towards the exchange of knowledge, critical thinking, and social transformation.

Through working groups, presentations, experiential workshops, poster displays and audiovisual productions, the congress will address the challenges of the integrality of functions and the transversal incorporation of trans-feminist epistemologies in university work.

Themes and topics

  1. Curricularization of extension: Devices, regulations and challenges of integrality in the curriculum.
  2. Mainstreaming gender perspectives, trans-feminisms and diversity: Experiences, situated knowledge and deconstruction of university praxis.
  3. University-society link: Social movements, territorial organizations, popular education and ancestral peoples.
  4. University extension, comprehensiveness, participatory methodologies and critical perspectives: Participatory Action Research (PAR), the dialogue of knowledge and the internationalization of extension.
  5. Communication and systematization of experiences: Community narratives, networks and popular communication as a political fact.
  6. Technologies, university extension and democracy: Algorithmic control, the effects of artificial intelligence, and digital sovereignty.
  7. Social and solidarity economy, sustainable development and climate change: Food sovereignty, rural extension and socio-environmental indicators.
