may 25 All day
From May 22 to June 25 | Hybrid format

The research line Subjects, Society and Culture of Interdisciplinary Research Group on Business Management, Development, Society and Culture (GEDESC), together with CLACSO Working Group on Student Movements and Activism, organize the seminar “Student movements and disputes over democracy”, a space for training and critical reflection on the dynamics of organization, mobilization and collective action of students in Latin America.
The seminar will take place between May 22 and June 25, 2026, in a Technology-Assisted In-Person (PAT) format, with virtual sessions scheduled from the University of Valle, Colombia.
The proposal aims to create an interdisciplinary academic space to analyze student movements from diverse theoretical perspectives and territorial experiences, addressing topics such as social movements, political opportunities, protest repertoires, and collective memories. It will also foster exchange among researchers, students, and activists regarding the contemporary challenges of student struggles and democratic contests in the region.
The program will feature the participation of prominent international specialists, including Donatella Della Porta, Luz Ángela Cardona Acuña, Azucena Sahori Granados Moctezuma, Gabriela González Vaillant, Nicolás Alberto Dip, Andrés Vélez Quintero and Mariano Ignacio Millán, among other guests.
