You are invited to participate in the International Seminar “The unfinished dream: bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama. Lessons for Latin American integration in the face of the new global geopolitics”, which will take place on June 8 and 9, 2026.
The activity proposes to generate a space for debate and exchange around the historical and current challenges of Latin American integration, based on a critical review of the Amphictyonic Congress of 1826 and its projection in the contemporary geopolitical scenario.
The conference will include lectures and thematic panels on:
- The Monroe Doctrine and the Congress of Panama
- Multilateralism and regionalism in historical perspective
- Current debates on Latin American integration
- Latin America's strategic options in the world system
The seminar is organized by the World Economic System Area of the Autonomous Metropolitan UniversityXochimilco Unit, with the support of Latin American Council of Social Sciences and international academic networks.
