Monthly meeting of the Health and Population Area of ​​the IIGG

We invite you to the monthly June meeting of the Health and Population Area (IIGG).

This time we will have the presentation “Quantitative and Qualitative Advances in Research on Food Practices and Health: Social Inequalities, Culture, and Daily Life.” The presentation is part of the ongoing PIP-CONICET projects 11220220100111 and UBACyT 20020220100032, both based at the IIGG-UBA, and will be given by Betina Freidin and Matías S. Ballesteros.

Betina Freidin holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brandeis University, USA. She also holds a Master's degree in Social Research and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). She is an Associate Professor of Methodology I, II, and III in the Sociology Department at the University of Buenos Aires and an Independent Researcher at CONICET (National Scientific and Technical Research Council) at the Gino Germani Research Institute-UBA. Her research focuses on the fields of professions, the sociology of medicine and health, and food, employing qualitative, quantitative, and interdisciplinary approaches.

Matias S. Ballesteros holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, a Master's degree in Social Research, and a PhD in Social Sciences from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSOC) at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is an Adjunct Researcher at CONICET, based at the Gino Germani Research Institute (IIGG) of UBA. He teaches undergraduate courses in Sociology (FSOC-UBA) on "Methodology and Techniques of Social Research" and postgraduate courses at various universities. His main research areas are social inequalities in health, the healthcare system, and quantitative methodology.
