Textile practices for transformation (IIGG)

The Design and Society Studies Group of the Gino Germani Research Institute invites you to the meeting Textile practices for transformation.
📌 Wednesday 22/4 at 18pm via Webex.
In the current context of the emergence of more sustainable and cleaner production methods in the clothing and textile industry—one of the most polluting worldwide—various design ventures have decided to focus on environmental issues, many of them geared towards the circular economy, through projects involving the reuse, recycling, or repurposing of discarded garments. These practices rethink the traditional production/consumption/disposal model and advocate for a circular one that allows us to question these habits and reconfigure waste as new materials ready to regenerate and fuel new production cycles.
Proyecto Emerger falls within this line and proposes a disruptive perspective on these conventional ways of producing clothing.
We will talk with the creator of the project, clothing designer Sol Panadeiros, about her experiences in these processes of transformation of textile practices.
Coordinated by María Eugenia Correa (IIGG-UBA-CONICET)
Organized by the Design and Society Studies Group (GEDISO-IIGG-UBA)
