FoCo Photographic Dialogues (IIGG) – Collaborative Digital Archives

The Research Group on Contemporary Photography, Art, and Politics (FoCo) at the Gino Germani Research Institute (FSOC-UBA) invites you to the event "Photographic Dialogues: Digital, Collective, and Collaborative Archives. A Conversation with Archivo Inundación (Santa Fe) and Museo de la Adolescencia," which brings together two recent and powerful collaborative digital archives. Archivo Inundación is a free, open-access digital community archive that gathers family photos, personal archives, home movies, flyers, and writings—all kinds of records produced during the 2003 floods by those who suffered through them: activist groups, civil society organizations, research groups, workers, and volunteers during the emergency period. Museo de la Adolescencia, for its part, is a virtual museum that seeks to explore adolescence, both past and present, through various activities. With its two collections—an archive of photographs and images of objects—the museum invites reflection on past adolescences, the main concepts and prejudices surrounding them, as well as the historical, social, and cultural milestones that shaped and, in many cases, defined them. Furthermore, to establish itself as a platform for action for today's adolescents, the museum offers a series of participatory initiatives that seek to amplify the voices of teenagers, expanding and disseminating their artistic and intellectual productions.
