Call for Papers. VII Conference on Studies of the United States and Hemispheric Processes
Until April 24th
El Center for Hemispheric and United States Studies (CEHSEU) from the University of Havana announces the realization of the VII Conference on Studies on the United States and Hemispheric Processes, which will be titled “Imperialism and anti-imperialism in inter-American relations”.
The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 June 2026 at the University of Havana.
This seventh edition is dedicated to bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama and centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro RuzThe conference invites researchers to submit papers addressing the dynamics of inter-American relations, regional change processes, the formation and evolution of imperialism, and counter-hegemonic projects in the hemisphere. It also includes analyses related to US domestic politics, its international projection, electoral situations, and socio-demographic and ideological transformations.
The proposals must be based on a perspective that takes into account The United States as an analytical axiswhether through bilateral relations, hemispheric projections, or global impact. The conference proposes, among others, the following thematic areas:
- Imperialism and inter-American relations
- Anti-imperialism as the central axis of Fidel Castro's thinking.
- Counter-hegemonic projects stemming from the Cuban Revolution.
- United States: socioeconomic evolution and internal political processes in the 21st century.
- Continuities and changes in the external projection of the United States.
- United States-Cuba relations.
- Latin America and the Caribbean: socio-political processes and links with the United States.
