Call for papers for the VIII International Conference of Young Researchers in Spiritualities and Religions

La University of Nariño, Social Observatory of the Sociology Program, the Suyusama Foundation, the CLACSO Working Group “Religions and society. Tensions, diversities and mobilizations under debate” and the Seminar on Intersections of the Religious (SEMIR) call for the presentation of papers for the VIII International Conference of Young Researchers in Spiritualities and Religions, which will be carried out from 9 to the 11 of December of 2026 in a hybrid format (in-person and virtual), under the motto “Feelings and religious epistemologies in Latin America”.

The conference provides a space for exchange for young researchers, master's and doctoral students, and people starting their academic careers, with the purpose of discussing the production of situated knowledge, spiritualities, and the multiple relationships between religion, society, territory, culture, and politics from interdisciplinary and critical perspectives.

The call for proposals will welcome submissions related to topics such as emotions and religion, religious syncretism, indigenous cosmologies and rituals, popular religiosity, religious pluralism, state and religion, territorial rituals, alternative spiritualities, history of religions, anthropology, sociology, and psychology of religion, among others. Research from disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, geography, law, international relations, gender studies, human rights, and political science will also be accepted.

📅 Deadline for abstract submissions: August 30th, 2026The summaries should be between 300 and 500 words and indicate the participation method (in-person or virtual). Notification of acceptance will be sent on 30 September 2026.

📍 Date of realization: December 9, 10, and 11, 2026.

Participation in the conference is freeA selection of the submitted works will be considered for inclusion in a collective publication edited in collaboration with the SEMIR and University of Nariño.
