Call for Papers: International Colloquium on Authoritarianism: Interdisciplinary Perspectives and Research Horizons

The Colloquium aims to foster a critical and interdisciplinary exchange to examine the continuities and transformations of contemporary authoritarian expressions, placing them in their historical, social, and political contexts.Researchers, activists, and professionals are invited to submit proposals for papers that explore the multiple facets of this phenomenon through case studies or comparisons, without limiting themselves exclusively to the Latin American region..
Key Dates
- Abstract receptionUntil July 3, 2026.
- Communication of approved abstracts: August 10, 2026.
- Submission of full papers: 1 October of 2026.
Themes and topics
- Historical foundations: continuities and new features.
- Structural conditions: global geopolitical and economic realignment.
- Coercive policies and strategies: security, violence, and repressive tactics.
- Policies and consensus strategies: culture, legitimacy and ideological constructions.
- Contradictions of democracy: reforms, revolution and the left in power.
- Resistances: practices and processes of resistance.
Shipping Requirements
- Abstracts: Length of between 200 and 250 words, and must contain objectives, conceptual approach, methodology, hypotheses and/or conclusions.
- Call for papers: Minimum length of 3000 words and maximum of 4000 words.
- File contents: Title of the work, abstract, thematic axis, full name, institutional or collective affiliation, brief bio and contact email.
