The South-South Intellectual Network (RISUR), together with the Postgraduate Program in Political Science of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PPGCP/UNIRIO), the Postgraduate Program in Political Sociology of the Candido Mendes University (PPGSP-IUPERJ-UCAM) and the Postgraduate Program in Social Sciences in Development, Agriculture and Society of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (CPDA/UFRRJ), invite you to participate in the South-South Intellectual Meeting RISUR 2026, which will be held on November 24, 25 and 26, 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The meeting proposes to build an international, multidisciplinary and multilingual space for dialogue between intellectuals, academies and civil society organizations of the Global South, with the aim of strengthening exchange networks, circulation of knowledge and common agendas for South-South collaboration.
Since 2014, RISUR has been promoting face-to-face, virtual and hybrid meetings in different cities in Latin America, Europe and Africa, fostering debates on South-South relations, critical thinking, alternatives to Eurocentrism, feminist and gender perspectives, cooperation between peoples of the South and contemporary global challenges.
The following are some of the key themes of the meeting:
- South-South relations and international cooperation;
- Debates on the Global South;
- Otherness, narratives and resistances;
- Feminisms and gender perspectives in the South;
- Exchanges of knowledge and experiences;
- Nature, territory and global crises;
- Common challenges and alternatives from the South.
The call for applications is open to researchers, professors, graduate students, members of social organizations, and anyone interested in contributing to the development of intellectual and political networks from the Global South. Activities will primarily be held in person, although virtual participation is anticipated in exceptional cases.
Presentation of proposals
Interested parties should send an email by July 31, 2026 to: [email protected] with:
- title of the proposal;
- summary in two of the official languages of the meeting (Spanish, Portuguese, English, French or Arabic);
- brief biographical note of up to 8 lines;
- Indication of participation modality (in-person or virtual).
Participation is free and there is no registration fee.
