Circle of Knowledge: Anti-cordial and Critical Perspectives in Mental Health

The CLACSO Working Group on Critical Disability Studies invites you to participate in the “Circle of Knowledge: Anti-cordial and Critical Perspectives in Mental Health” , a space for reflection and dialogue on psychiatric violence and critical perspectives on mental health in Latin America.

This activity aims to problematize the persistence of paradigms based on “deficit” and “mental disorder,” which contribute to stigmatizing, institutionalizing, and medicalizing the broad spectrum of feelings. It also seeks to reclaim perspectives that reclaim madness and psychosocial disability as sources of pride and resistance, highlighting the individual and collective agency, identities, knowledge, communities, and studies that, from our region, have contributed to challenging the structures that pathologize distress, neoliberalize healthcare, and produce social abandonment.
