Circle of knowledge: the advance of the Latin American right wing and the resistance from communities with disabilities and anti-ableists
July 15 - 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM CMT
📅 Wednesday, July 15 | Virtual format
⏰ 9:00 Mexico/10:00 Colombia/ 11:00 Chile/ 12:00 Argentina
The rise of right-wing forces in Latin America has threatened social movements and communities that have sustained long-standing emancipatory processes. While progressive left-wing governments have not been free from ableism, the shift toward ultraconservatism and the right wing at the international and regional levels has had profound and regressive effects. Thus, this knowledge circle seeks to critically analyze discourses and policies that affect people with disabilities and their communities, drawing on experiences situated in the Latin American region.
Likewise, the aim is to understand the actions of resistance, mobilization, and construction of alternatives that are being sustained.
