The Foundation for the Development of Central America (FUDECEN) is a think tank that contributes to the understanding of regional problems from a holistic and heterodox perspective, allowing for a multiplicity of approaches and proposals linked to the specific problems of the Central American region and the overcoming of inequalities.

Today is a good time to relaunch a regional integration strategy; the world demands a multilateral perspective in the design of public policies in Central America.

Strengthening the integration process is a viable and necessary alternative to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Central America and its integration into the international context.

FUDECEN's mission is to influence the generation of knowledge, the construction of strategies and public policies through research, proposals and social dialogue, with an inclusive and sustainable development approach, that contribute to the reduction of poverty and inequalities in the Central American region.

Vision: To be a leading organization in economic thought and public policy analysis with a presence throughout Central America, recognized for its capacity and technical strength, and its identification with the interests of the popular sectors, promoting the development of the region and the continuous construction of an increasingly equitable and happy society.

In all its decisions, proposals and actions, the Foundation for the Development of Central America (FUDECEN) will observe the following principles:

01. Critical thinking. Application of a critical and heterodox economic thinking oriented towards inclusive, sustainable and feminist development.

02. Equity and Equality. Pursuit of equity and equality for the inhabitants of the Central American region, who must be subjects of economic, political, social, environmental and cultural rights.

03. Territorial Approach. A territorial, multilateral, integrative and cooperative approach in the Central American region and with other regions of the world, as a necessary means to achieve development.

Lines of investigation:

Structural inequalities in the Central American region.

The integration process of Central America and the Dominican Republic.

Prospective process of Central America towards structural change, the construction of a knowledge and innovation society and the strategic repositioning of the Central American region.

The potential and complementarities of the relationship between Central America and other regions within the multilateral framework.
