This October 26th and 27th, "Open Knowledge" will be held online, a free seminar focused on national, Ibero-American and European experiences and policies on open access to knowledge.

The event will feature Julia Reda as the keynote speaker, an expert in Copyright Law at the NGO Society for Civil Rights, and panelists from France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

The design of public policies in Chile that guarantee access to publications and data generated with public funds is one of the priority issues for the organizations that finance science, technology, knowledge and innovation (STCI) activities.

Therefore, and to advance the implementation of an Open Access Policy , for the past two years the National Research and Development Agency ( ANID ), together with the Consortium for Access to Electronic Scientific Information ( CINCEL ), have been working on an open access strategy that involves the creation of a national network of university libraries, funding digital repositories of scientific data and information in Chilean universities and, above all, raising awareness about the importance of knowledge as a public good for the development of the country.

This is expected to progressively move towards a transparent and open system , where access, reuse and the constant supply of new information and scientific data contribute in a real and concrete way to the social, cultural, scientific and economic development of Chile.

In this context, the “Open Knowledge” seminar will be held on October 26 and 27 with the aim of showcasing international best practices in open science, open access to scientific information and research data, as well as presenting progress and challenges at the national level. Perspectives from various Latin American countries and European experiences will be shared to encourage reflection on an open science and open access ecosystem.

The event will include keynotes from international guests, three panel discussions, and a training workshop on scientific data, to be held on October 27.

The event will be broadcast via streaming free of charge and open to the entire community, prior registration in this link.
