Repatriation of the Gino Germani archive

On May 7th, the repatriation of the Gino Germani Archive began for its incorporation into the collection of the Gino Germani Research Institute. This is a significant and important documentary collection belonging to one of the central intellectual figures of Argentine sociology and the social sciences in Latin America.

The repatriation will allow for more comprehensive access to his extensive body of work and will open new avenues of research for the future. This achievement has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Gino Germani Documentary Fund Project (PIP), the Program of Social and Political Studies between Italy and Argentina, the Secretariat of Advanced Studies, and the Gino Germani Institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires.

The transfer was made possible with funding from CLACSO, the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires and the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Development and Innovation, as well as the intensive work of the Argentine Embassy in Italy and its Cultural Section.

The collection will be cataloged, organized, and digitized to democratize and enable access to it.

Since Gino Germani's death in 1979, various efforts have been made to access and transfer that archive. Today, that task has been accomplished.
