Education and interculturality

 Education and interculturality

The Education and Interculturality Working Group, which began in 2016, is currently planning to continue addressing different aspects of interculturality in the educational field.

In order to generate an interdisciplinary and international dialogue, this Working Group brings together researchers from different countries who problematize the scope and limits of this topic, studying very diverse educational experiences in intercultural contexts. These are researchers trained in social sciences who have long been developing their inquiries in the field of childhood, indigenous and migrant childhood, schooling and education in contexts of diversity and inequality in Latin America.

In the 2016-2019 edition of our Working Group, we made progress in sharing our research, building a substantial body of information and knowledge on the subject. Our focus will continue to be on the diverse formative experiences of Indigenous and migrant children and youth: experiences of political participation, religious practices, and socioeconomic production, in contexts of linguistic socialization and intergenerational transmission of knowledge, and so on. It will be essential to connect these family and community-based formative situations with school contexts, analyzing, in turn, the aspects shared regionally and globally, as well as the specificities of national formations of otherness. In this new cycle, we specifically aim to advance the development of a systematically comparative perspective. The exchanges and outputs of our Working Group are made possible by the meetings (virtual and/or in-person) of its members, which serve as a way to share information about the progress of our research and to articulate individual objectives within a shared agenda as a collective.
