Organized from July 26 to 31, the conference called for reflection on a contemporary climate profoundly transformed by multiple and interdependent crises—political, economic, social, climatic, energy, ecological, and geopolitical—that are rapidly reshaping life in our societies and putting sociological work under strain. Added to this are growing threats to university autonomy, critical research, and the social sciences in general.

The program for Wednesday, August 5th covers three of the main themes of the Platforms for Social Dialogue which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Geopolitical reconfigurations and multilateralism in transformation: perspectives from the Global South”, “Democracies in dispute: horizons, resistances and construction of alternatives from the public and the common” and “Structural inequalities and redistributive justice in Latin America and the Caribbean”.
