Territories, knowledge and networks in the social sciences and humanities
On Wednesday, September 9, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires invite you to the Day of Critical and Transformative Thinking “Territories, knowledge and networks in the social sciences and humanities”
The meeting is conceived as a space for reflection on the relationship between the social and contemporary cultural configurations. Through dialogue among researchers affiliated with various CLACSO Working Groups, the program invites a critical examination of how knowledge is produced, circulated, and transformed in our societies.
Within this framework, special emphasis will be placed on exploring definitions of what a CLACSO Working Group is and what role it can play not only as an academic subnetwork but also as a collective space for producing thought for transformation. In addition to exchanging experiences and ways of connecting regional networks, the aim will be to highlight the importance of territorial impact, commitment to social issues, and the role of research in the social sciences, humanities, and arts in building more just, democratic, and inclusive futures. In particular, the current challenges of open science, digital technologies, and higher education in contexts of increasing internationalization will be addressed, while also analyzing regressive policies that undermine public education and science.
In short, this event offers an opportunity to strengthen institutional ties and continue envisioning situated, collaborative knowledge practices committed to social change. Active participation is expected from students, faculty, and both established and emerging researchers, with the aim of fostering a broad space for exchange, debate, and academic reflection. The invitation is extended to the entire community of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Buenos Aires.
