Crisis, responses and alternatives in the Greater Caribbean
El CLACSO Working Group Crisis, responses and alternatives in the Greater Caribbean (GT CRAGC) aims to consolidate an interdisciplinary space for research, reflection and advocacy that contributes to understanding and transforming the main economic, political, social, cultural, environmental and geopolitical problems faced by the countries and territories of the Greater Caribbean in the context of the current reconfigurations of the international system.
The Working Group seeks to critically analyze the structural vulnerabilities of the region—particularly those affecting Small Island Developing States—as well as the impacts of climate change, migration dynamics, social inequalities, multidimensional security, and geopolitical disputes between global and regional actors.
It also promotes the production of knowledge situated in the Global South, capable of providing sustainable, inclusive, and sovereign development alternatives to dependent and exclusionary models. Among its fundamental purposes are strengthening academic cooperation and dialogue among researchers, social movements, and decision-makers; promoting public policy proposals aimed at the well-being of Caribbean populations; fostering regional integration and cooperation; and highlighting the resilience, resistance, and alternative-building capacities that have historically characterized the societies of the Greater Caribbean.
