What are the implications of the social sciences?

Martín Unzué, researcher, PhD in social sciences, director of the Gino Germani Research Institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires, and alternate representative for the Member Centers of Argentina on the Board of Directors of CLACSO, explains in the following message the impact of the social sciences in the country and concludes: “Without democracy there are no social sciences and without social sciences democracy is distorted.”
While maintaining that the production of knowledge in all its forms is desirable, which implies a critique of a strictly productivist valuation of scientific and academic activity, it is also necessary to show that part of the research in Social Sciences has diverse forms of impact on social, public and private actors, as well as on the formation of citizenship, culture and teaching, among other dimensions that are relevant and diverse, and that contribute to the complexity and multiplicity of the lines of work that coexist in our fields of knowledge.
Following an institutional survey to provide answers to this scenario, we want to begin disseminating the results of research cases with direct social effects, as well as indicating the geographical coverage of the recipients of our research.
Below are the first results showing the impact of the Social Sciences in Argentina.
