Since the signing and implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1993-1994, it has played an important role both in the geographical reconfiguration of capitalism, through which Global Spaces for the Expansion of Transnational Capital (EGECT) and Specific Zones of Intense Accumulation (ZEIA) emerged in North America and the rest of the continent, and in global political and economic relations, considering its articulation with the advances and setbacks of the international trade agenda condensed in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the evolution of the content in said agenda that advanced to the negotiation of a new generation of agreements known as megaregional agreements, whose essence is manifested in a synthetic way in the new version of NAFTA renegotiated from 2018, which is called the Mexico-United States-Canada Agreement or USMCA.
