114th meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee
The Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP, Brazil) is hosting the 114th meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee, on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The meeting began with a fruitful exchange on the challenges facing the region and the social sciences and humanities, followed by the presentation of the Council's management report for the last six months by Pablo Vommaro , Executive Director of CLACSO. Afterward, the Directors presented the achievements and projects of their respective areas, before defining the work, research, and production priorities for the coming months, within a turbulent international context that demands urgent responses from research, public policy, social movements, and academia.
“This was a highly significant Steering Committee meeting here in São Paulo, at the Pontifical Catholic University,” said Pablo Vommaro . “On the one hand, because the entire CLACSO Steering Committee in Brazil participated—a country of great importance in the region, in the dynamics of the Global South itself—to consider the BRICS, regional integration, and the strengthening and future of progressive governments, like the one currently in power in Brazil, in a year of important elections for the country, where we understand that transformative critical thinking and intellectual commitment must be present. It was also a very intense meeting, with information on the activities carried out, collective and joint planning of the 2026 Agenda, the development of the 10 strategic axes that are guiding and organizing CLACSO's work in recent years, and also a very interesting discussion about how to gain more autonomy as a network of critical and transformative thought, how to further promote the network's sustainability, and how to strengthen collaborative dynamics.” “This will soon lead to proposals for member centers and for our network, precisely to further strengthen it, consolidate it, and ensure its sustainability,” he concluded.
Following the CLACSO Board of Directors meeting, its members participate in the Forum: Democracy, Justice and the Future
