111th meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee

The University of Havana, in Cuba, is the venue for the 111th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, held on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2024.

At the start of the meeting, Karina Batthyány , Executive Director of CLACSO, gave special thanks to the rector of the university, Miriam Nicado , for offering the facilities of the Varona Building of the University for the meeting of the Steering Committee, and to María Isabel Domínguez , member of the CLACSO Steering Committee for Cuba.

Next, Karina Batthyány presented the Council's management report for the last semester, and then the Directors spoke about the achievements and projects in each of their areas. This led to a fruitful exchange about the challenges facing the region and the social sciences and humanities, a discussion that preceded the definition of the work, research, and production priorities for the coming months, with a focus on the CLACSO Ordinary Assembly and the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences in Bogotá, Colombia, in June 2025.

The Steering Committee expressed its gratitude to the CLACSO Member Centers of Cuba and the Caribbean for the excellent and warm reception of the 111th meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee.
