107th Meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee
On Saturday the 19th, the Universidad Libre, Bogotá branch, hosted the 107th Meeting of the CLACSO Steering Committee, the first after the XXVII Ordinary Assembly on June 6 in Mexico, which defined its new integration with 17 members distributed in 5 regions: Caribbean – Central America and Mexico – Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and Argentina – Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela – Bolivia, Brazil and Peru.
The Executive Director Karina Batthyány The Council's management report was presented, as were the Directors who spoke about the achievements and projects of each of the areas: Pablo Vommaro, Investigation; Fernanda Pampín, Publications; Gustavo LemaCommunication and Information. Over two days, the central lines that will lead to strengthening and extending the CLACSO network were debated and defined.
On this occasion, the authorities of the Free University of Bogotá presented the Executive Director of CLACSO with the medal of the prestigious institution, which in 2022 celebrates 100 years since its founding.
The Rector of the Bogotá branch was present Fernando Salinas Suárez, the Director of the Doctorate in Law Ricardo Sánchez Ángel, and the National Director of International and Institutional Relations Mario Alejandro López Viveros (from left to right).
Also present Mateo Adarve (on the left in the photo), representative of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), who spoke about the agreements reached between the two institutions.
Previously, on November 18, there was a well-attended meeting of Member Centers in Colombia, where the situation in the Andean-Caribbean region was analyzed and common actions to be developed were discussed.
The day on the 18th concluded with a reception at the Argentine diplomatic headquarters in Colombia, in response to an invitation from the ambassador. Gustavo Dzugala, which was attended by, among others, Lilia Solano Ramírez, Vice Minister of Social Dialogue, Equality and Human Rights; Luz Marina Monzón, Director of the Search Unit for Missing Persons in Colombia; and Alfredo Bogliaccini Llambi, Uruguay's ambassador to Colombia.
