100 Voices (and a Letter) for Paulo Freire

Coordinator: Nicholas Arata.

Paulo Freire turns 100. What are we celebrating on this anniversary? The living and vital presence of the extraordinary political and pedagogical legacy of the brilliant Brazilian educator. To remember is to make present, and this collective text seeks—by bringing together one hundred voices of educators from across the continent—to engage in dialogue with Paulo Freire and among ourselves, about the multiple meanings and scope of his legacy and the urgent need to keep it alive and relevant in the face of the unprecedented social and educational challenges of the 21st century. CLACSO and the Bogotá Department of Education have joined forces to make this book possible, which we hope will circulate from hand to hand and among educators with the same passion and conviction with which Freire taught us to engage in dialogue with others to transform the world.
