10 years of the China-CELAC Forum: Balance and challenges for development from the South in a multipolar world

We shared the article "10 Years of the China-CELAC Forum: Assessment and Challenges for Development from the South in a Multipolar World", published in the academic journal Ibero-American Studies 2024, 2, vol. 8. This paper analyzes the impact of the China-CELAC Forum (CCF) on strengthening relations between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) over its 10 years. Since its creation in 2014, the forum has promoted cooperation in areas such as politics, security, trade, science, technology, and culture, underscoring LAC's autonomy and proposing a partnership based on equality and mutual respect.

During this decade, trade and investment between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have grown significantly, solidifying China's position as a key strategic partner. However, challenges remain, such as export diversification and reducing asymmetries—issues that have been central to the FCC's proposals. Despite pressure from the United States, the FCC has maintained its relevance, strengthening CELAC's position in the global dialogue and facilitating closer ties between China and the region.

The forum has promoted a vision of international relations aligned with the principles of the Global South, such as cooperation, respect for sovereignty and mutual benefit.
