History and current situation: Marxist perspectives

El CLACSO Working Group History and current situation: Marxist perspectives It brings together a group of specialists, intellectuals, and activists interested in continuing the theoretical perspective initiated by Karl Marx.

In direct dialogue with the Latin American and Caribbean reality, the GT unfolds from two major problematizing axes. 

On the one hand, history as the account of the theoretical accumulation that the region has generated through conceptual and interpretive productions. On the other hand, the analysis of the changes present in the power relations that link the mode of production, social formations, and the political intervention of subaltern groups. 

These two concerns are not presented separately or in isolation. Rather, the emphasis on the historical dimension and the reconstruction of Marxist memory only acquires its full meaning when directly related to the major problems of our time, marked by the transformation of the mode of production and its globalized form, the rise of right-wing sectors in Europe, and the experiences of alternative construction in Latin America, from the Rio Grande to Patagonia. 

The task is immense, requiring both the convergence of energies and initiatives, and the incorporation of other perspectives in dialogue with Marxism. Without abandoning a critical perspective, the Working Group aims to solidify itself as a space for productive and rigorous reflection, avoiding both academicism and pragmatism.
