Ecuador Facing the Crises

 Ecuador Facing the Crises

The world is facing a complex moment that is pushing our existence to the limit. In Ecuador, this is not solely about the growing number of infections and deaths that have placed us among the countries most affected by the pandemic. It is about the limitations of political society, the government, and elites in constructing a humane response to the challenges of history.

The moment is fraught with uncertainty. As the material conditions for society's survival deteriorate, we are still asking ourselves: What will be the effects of the crisis on society? Where will regulatory reforms progress? What actions will the government take to contain the health crisis? What mechanisms will be in place to support society and address its needs? How will social forces and energies be organized to drive change? What are the best alternatives for containing the crisis?

The crisis demands a creative debate that allows us to understand the current moment and broaden our critical perspectives with a view to expanding options for sustaining life. In this spirit, the CLACSO member centers in Ecuador, with the intention of broadening the debate and understanding of the effects of the political, economic, and health crises, would like to invite you to the discussion sessions: “Ecuador Facing the Crisis.”

Thus, in the context of the III Congress of the UNESCO Chair in Ethics and Society, the first panel begins on Wednesday, July 28th organized by CLACSO and the Institute of Ecuadorian Studies:
