The work of the Area is aimed at providing access to knowledge in the field of Social Sciences and the dissemination of the academic production of the researchers that make up the CLACSOnetwork.
From the area, different platforms, tools and dissemination formats are developed and adapted, consolidating open access mechanisms to research results and debates in the field of Social Sciences. It is also a space for cooperation with CLACSOmember centers for joint production and / or support in the transition to new formats for the dissemination of research in virtual environments in open access.
Main objectives
- Promote new alternatives for the dissemination of knowledge produced in the field of Social Sciences and the production and circulation of publications, expanding them.
- Contribute to professional updating and the exchange of experiences in the CLACSO network regarding good practices in academic communications in digital environments.
- Promote the debate on access to knowledge produced by social researchers and encourage progress in international, national and institutional policy instruments that recognize knowledge as a public good and guarantee its access.
- Build and maintain a bibliographic space of reference in the field of Latin American social sciences that allows the knowledge and dialogue of the different epistemological traditions. In this sense, the development of the Network of Virtual Libraries and the Latin American Library of Social Sciencesstands out.
- Provide CLACSO Member Centers, the scientific and academic community, and the general public,free access to an updated digital repository of Social Sciences from Latin America and the Caribbean, and to audiovisual productions on CLACSO TV.
